Scrum.org’s 2-day Applying Professional Scrum (APS) course provides hands-on foundational training for individuals or teams looking for an introduction, reboot or refresher to Scrum. It includes a combination of instruction and exercises within a case study where you’ll experience how the Scrum Framework can improve product delivery.

Throughout the APS course, you’ll participate as part of a Scrum Team utilizing the roles, events and artifacts of the Scrum Framework to build a product incrementally and iteratively. You’ll also experience the principles and values of Scrum while gaining insight on team-based collaboration, self-organization and overcoming complexity.

By emphasizing the practical application of Scrum, this course exposes common missteps and misunderstandings to help you develop an awareness of the associated symptoms and obtain prescriptive guidance to keep Scrum healthy and avoid going off track.

The Applying Professional Scrum course is recommended prior to role-based training for Leaders, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Developers.

After participating in this class, you'll receive credentials to attempt the PSM I assessment and earn the industry-recognized PSM I Certification. Scrum.org Certification

After completing an Applying Professional Scrum (APS) course, you'll receive credentials to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment and earn the industry-recognized PSM I Certification. These credentials never expire, however should you attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days after receiving your credentials and not receive a passing score, you'll be granted a 2nd attempt for no additional fee.

About Your Trainer

Rich Visotcky

Professional Scrum Trainer, The Madison Henry Group

Rich Visotcky is a Professional Scrum Trainer and Steward with Scrum.org and a licensed Management 3.0 facilitator. The clients he has worked with span a variety of industries including finance, insurance, healthcare, real estate, energy, manufacturing, and aerospace in companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to five person start-ups. Rich is an experienced professional trainer and consultant with a demonstrated history of connecting thousands of people with leaner, agile principles and practices.

A BS in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University taught him to think systematically and identify right-sized solutions to problems. After a decade of software development, Rich saw the challenge of getting people to work openly together towards a common goal was often harder than technology problems. That led him to focus on teaching people about building products and solving problems iteratively and incrementally.

When he’s not thinking about the complex systems of how people work and build things together, Rich can be found working on projects with his son, playing all manner of video and board games, exploring the world and its beer, or enjoying his wife’s laughter.

PMI PDU Credits
Students of Scrum.org courses are able to claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 14 PDUs after attending the two-day Professional Scrum Master (PSM) course. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for earning a Scrum.org certification. Students can claim PDUs under PMI’s "Education courses provided by other third party providers” category. You can claim your PDUs here.

Cancellation Policy
The Madison Henry Group accepts student substitutions or postponements for classes at any time. Student cancellations must be made via email. Madison Henry shall provide refunds for student cancellations as follows:

Cancellation received more than 30 business days prior to the first day of class = 100% refund of course fee
Cancellation received more than 20 business days prior to the first day of class = 75% refund of course fee
Cancellation received more than 10 business days prior to the first day of class = 50% refund of course fee
Cancellation received less than 10 business days prior to the first day of class = no refund provided
