Who Should Attend?

The APS for Software Development course is intended for all members of a Scrum Team involved in developing and delivering software based systems including: architects, analysts, programmers, database developers, testers, managers, IT-Operations and others, including Scrum Masters and Product Owners.

This course provides greatest value if the whole Scrum Team (Developers, Scrum Master and Product Owner) attend together and experience the power of real teamwork. Teams that attend together are not only able to apply learnings to their work immediately, but are also able to recall their classroom experiences to overcome particularly challenging times.

Of course, this class is also valuable to individuals attending without their entire team. You'll experience working on a Scrum Team during the class and be able to transfer your learnings to your teammates, often convincing them of the advantages of using Scrum, Agile and DevOps practices.

Following the APS-SD course, you'll have learned how to perform the following:

• Experience real collaboration between Developers, Product Owner and Scrum Master in the quest of building and delivering a high quality and valuable product.
• Build and deliver working software by applying modern Agile engineering practices and supportive DevOps tools.

• Pair Programming
• Agile Testing and other practices to ensure quality
• Using DevOps with Scrum

Scrum.org Certification

After completing an Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development class, you'll receive a password to attempt the PSD I assessment and earn the industry-recognized PSD I Certification. Your password never expires, however should you attempt the PSD I assessment within 14 days after receiving your password and not receive a passing score, you'll be granted a 2nd attempt for no additional fee.  

Earning your PSD I Certification makes you part of an elite community of 20,000+ PSD I badge holders from around the globe and unlike other Scrum training and certification organizations, your certification never expires and will not require future renewal fees.

Students of Scrum.org's Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development classes are also entitled to a 40% discount on the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment once passing PSD I. The industry-recognized Professional Scrum certifications require a minimum passing score.

About Your Trainer

Rich Visotcky

Professional Scrum Trainer, The Madison Henry Group

Rich Visotcky is a Professional Scrum Trainer and Steward with Scrum.org and a licensed Management 3.0 facilitator. The clients he has worked with span a variety of industries including finance, insurance, healthcare, real estate, energy, manufacturing, and aerospace in companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to five person start-ups. Rich is an experienced professional trainer and consultant with a demonstrated history of connecting thousands of people with leaner, agile principles and practices.

A BS in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University taught him to think systematically and identify right-sized solutions to problems. After a decade of software development, Rich saw the challenge of getting people to work openly together towards a common goal was often harder than technology problems. That led him to focus on teaching people about building products and solving problems iteratively and incrementally.

When he’s not thinking about the complex systems of how people work and build things together, Rich can be found working on projects with his son, playing all manner of video and board games, exploring the world and its beer, or enjoying his wife’s laughter.

PMI PDU Credits
APS-SD students are able to claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 21 PDUs. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for earning a PSD I Certification. Students can claim PDUs under PMI’s "Education courses provided by other third party providers” category. You can claim your PDUs here.

Cancellation Policy
The Madison Henry Group accepts student substitutions or postponements for classes at any time. Student cancellations must be made via email. Madison Henry shall provide refunds for student cancellations as follows:

• Cancellation received more than 30 business days prior to the first day of class = 100% refund of course fee
• Cancellation received more than 20 business days prior to the first day of class = 75% refund of course fee
• Cancellation received more than 10 business days prior to the first day of class = 50% refund of course fee
• Cancellation received less than 10 business days prior to the first day of class = no refund provided
